SENIOR COMMAND STAFF

Maj Steve Aaron - Commander

Maj Steve Aaron is a 7 year veteran of Cadet Training Schools and currently serves the PA Wing as Commander of Cadet Training Schools, Wing Assistant Director of Cadet Programs, and Deputy Commander of Group 6 in northwestern PA.  In May 2019, he will begin service as one of two PA Wing Vice Commanders.  His previous CAP experience includes serving as CTS Chief of Staff, CTS Chief TAC, Squadron Commander of Clarion Composite Squadron, as well as serving in numerous other duty positions within Group 6.

Capt Brandon Corsi - Deputy Commander

Capt Brandon Corsi has been on CTS staff since 2006. Capt Corsi has served multiple roles in CTS including Director of Training, Commandant of Cadets, and now for the third time Deputy Commander. As a cadet, He served as Cadet Wing Commander on two occasions, as well as other cadet echelon positions. Capt Corsi looks forward to another successful year of training the future leaders of the program!

Lt Col Dane Carroll - Chief of Staff

Lt Col Dane Carroll has been on CTS staff since 2005, and also serves Pennsylvania Wing as the Assistant Director of Operations for Response.  As a former CTS Commander and Cadet Wing Commander, Lt Col Carroll brings a wealth of experience to the CTS command team and looks forward to furthering the schools' mission as the Chief of Staff.

Capt Michael Bilz - Commandant of Cadets

Capt Mike Bilz has served on Cadet Training Schools staff both as a cadet (2004-2009) and as a senior member (2016-present) in a variety of training related roles including Cadet Wing Commander, TAC, and Flight Training Officer. Outside of Cadet Training Schools, he serves as the assistant Emergency Services officer for the Golden Triangle Composite Squadron in the suburbs of Pittsburgh.

SSgt Shawn Utermohlen - CTS First Sergeant

SSgt Shawn Utermohlen has supported PA Wing Cadet Training Schools for 7 of the past 8 years.  He currently serves as the school First Sergeant and previously held positions of TAC, Color Guard Academy OIC, and Commandant of Cadets.  SSgt Utermohlen has also supported Squadron 904 as Deputy Commander for Cadets and Squadron Commander.  In addition to the Civil Air Patrol, he currently serves as a Senior Airman with 201 RED HORSE Squadron, Detachment 1, PA Air National Guard as an Electrical Power Production Technician.

PRIMARY DIRECTORS

Maj Tim Steiner - Director of Operations

Maj Tim Steiner has been part of the Cadet Training Schools family for the last 7 years starting as a TAC officer in 2012 before moving into the training department in which he served as the Director of Training for the last 2 years.  Additionally, he is the Assistant Director of Cadet Programs, Group 1 Cadet Programs officer, and the Squadron Commander of the 2019 Regional Color Guard Competition Winning squadron, Allegheny Composite Squadron 602. Maj Steiner has been a part of Civil Air Patrol for 18 years and plans to continue his volunteer efforts.

Lt Col Leslie Herr - Director of Safety

Lt Col Leslie Herr has faithfully served since 2012 on the Cadet Training Schools senior staff in varying roles including TAC, Safety, and Logistics sections. Outside of her duties to Cadet Training Schools, she previously served as the squadron commander of the Chester County Composite Squadron and is currently the commander of Group 3 in the greater Philadelphia area.

Capt Allison Irwin - Director of Training

Capt Allison Irwin started volunteering during the Pennsylvania Wing Cadet Training Schools in 2016 and has been a part of the training department every year to date. In her professional career, she has worked as an educator for over 10 years. She has also supported the Civil Air Patrol as Chief of Staff of the Winter Cadet Training Schools in Bellefonte, PA and as the Deputy Commander for Seniors in her local squadron in Chester County. In addition, she currently holds the position of Internal Aerospace Education Officer for the Pennsylvania Wing.

Lt Col Robin Steiner - Director of Support

Lt Col Robin Steiner has staffed Cadet Training Schools for the last 7 years starting out as a TAC Officer in 2011and transitioning into the role of Director of Support in 2012.  Her previous experience includes Squadron Commander for 10 years and Deputy Commander for Group 1.  Lt Col Steiner is currently the Deputy Commander for Seniors for Allegheny County Squadron 602. In addition, she has also staffed Wing, Region and National Cadet Competitions and is the senior mentor for Squadron 602 color guard. 

1st Lt David Farah - Director of Medical Operations

1st Lt David Farah is a 2 year veteran of the Cadet Training Schools and currently serves as the CTS Director of Medical Operations. He also serves as the PA Wing DDRX Program Director and Deputy Commander for the Golden Triangle Composite Squadron 603 in the greater Pittsburgh area. Lt Farah's background includes law enforcement and military service, having served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman with the U.S. Marine Corps.

CADET COMMAND STAFF

C/Col Matthew Robinson - Cadet Commander

C/Col Robinson attended Pennsylvania Wing Basic Encampment in 2012 as a member of the 50th Training Squadron.  During his last seven years in CAP, he has had the opportunity to travel to Hong Kong with the International Air Cadet Exchange, lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and attend Cadet Officers School at Maxwell Air Force Base.  After completing a year of college in high school, C/Col Robinson is finishing his studies at the Community College of Beaver County Aviation Sciences Center and plans on starting dual enrollment with Southern Illinois University in the summer.

C/Lt Col Izaak Weaver - Cadet Deputy Commander

C/Lt Col Weaver attended Pennsylvania Wing Basic Encampment in 2013 as a member of the 50th Training Squadron.  During his last seven years in CAP, C/Lt Col Weaver has served as the 2016 World War II Weekend Commander, 2018 Pennsylvania Wing Encampment Group Commander, and he was recently awarded his Ira C. Eaker Award.  C/Lt Col Weaver is currently a student at the University of Pittsburgh where he is pursuing a dual degree in History and Environmental Science and minoring in Legal Studies. C/Lt Col Weaver also serves as the president of his chapter’s fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega.

C/Lt Col Lisa Rubright - Cadet Executive Officer

C/Lt Col Rubright attended Pennsylvania Wing Basic Encampment in 2016 as a member of the 20th Training Squadron.  Through her last three years in CAP, C/Lt Col Rubright has served as the Commander of Squadron 811’s Color Guard, an Executive Assistant to the Leadership Group Commander, and Head of Logistics at the 2018 World War II Weekend.  After high school, C/Lt Col Rubright plans on going to college to become a Forensic Science Technician.

C/Capt Alexander Pantaleo - Encampment Group Commander

C/Capt Pantaleo attended Pennsylvania Wing Basic Encampment in 2012 as a member of the 40th Training Squadron.  During his last seven years in CAP, C/Capt Pantaleo has had the privilege of Presenting the Colors at a local baseball game, laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and watching cadets that he mentored rise up through the cadet program.  C/Capt Pantaleo, is currently Attending Northampton Community College, and he is hoping to enlist in the Air National Guard and then become a civilian police officer.

C/Lt Col Andrew Wieder - Leadership Group Commander

C/Lt Col Andrew Wieder is 6 year veteran of Cadet Training Schools and currently serves as the PA Wing Vice Chairman of the PA Wing CAC and as a Special Advisor to the Quakertown Composite Squadron. He is the 2015 LDC Honor Graduate and has served in various positions at both Summer and Winter CTS since 2016 as well as various position at the squadron, group, wing, and region level. Outside of CAP he is a full-time college student at DeSales University where he studies Homeland Security and is a scholarship Army ROTC Cadet in the Lehigh Valley Steel Battalion where he aspires to commission as an Army Aviation Officer.
